The Hamilton Bulldogs have named Matt Nichol their new Director of Sport Science. Nichol is a former strength and conditioning coach with the Toronto Maple Leafs (2002-’09) and Canada’s World Cup of Hockey team in 2004. Nichol founded BioSteel, a sports supplement company that produces high caliber sports nutrition products for elite and amateur athletes. BioSteel’s clients include Connor McDavid, P.K. Subban, Tyler Seguin, Steven Stamkos as well as several high profile NBA and NFL players.

Nichol’s first client was Bulldogs president Steve Staios.

“Matt was the biggest factor to my success and longevity in the NHL. He brings an incredible amount of knowledge and experience to the Bulldogs,” said Staios. “For me to be able to have Matt Nichol as part of this team is a great indicator to our players, staff and community that we are striving to be best in class in all areas of our organization.”

“Steve Staios and Michael Andlauer both have a tremendous work ethic and a commitment to excellence in all that they do. They are passionate about the Hamilton Bulldogs and passionate about doing whatever is necessary to make this franchise elite in every aspect of the operation,” said Nichol. “I’m honoured to be able to contribute to that in some small way.”
